IN YOUR CORNER

No penalty for asking.

Five For Fighting exists to make it easier for guys to reach out—and to answer when someone else does.

From the penalty box to connection

The name comes from hockey: five minutes in the box for fighting. The founder’s experience of struggling with mental health and feeling sidelined gave that idea a different meaning.

This space is about reconnecting, recovering, and rebuilding. You don’t have to be an athlete, have a diagnosis, or know how to talk about mental health to start here. Everyone is welcome.

How we show up

Practical tools. Plain words. Listening with care. Making it easier to ask for help, support a friend, and keep the conversation going.

Our peer-support direction is informed by the Be There Certificate, created by Jack.org in partnership with Born This Way Foundation. This site is independent; the official course and certificate belong to them.

Our crisis guidance links to U.S. 988 Lifeline · Canada 9-8-8 · NIMH: supporting someone. Resource links checked October 8, 2026.
